Zephyranthes Robustus

Zephyranthes robusta, formerly Habranthus robustus, is a vigorous South American rain lily with glaucous strap-like leaves and large, slightly inclined funnel flowers. The blooms open in pale pink, lavender-pink or soft rose, often with a deeper throat, soon after warm summer rain and appear substantial above stems around 15-30 cm high. Native from eastern and southern Brazil to northern Argentina, it increases readily in sunny containers and warm borders. Tender to hard frost and harmful if eaten, it is best grown with summer moisture and a dry, protected winter rest.
