PENSTEMON SPECIES MIXED
In stock
Description
A wide selection from this increasingly popular group of plants, including both rockery and border varieties, e.g. Penstemon spp. cardinalis, fruticosus, procerus, serrulatus, montanus, ovatus, venustus, virens and many more. Flowering all summer long, once established, these lovely plants will thrive in low fertility soil with little summer water and are a superb choice for dry gardens. The spikes of hooded, tubular flowers come in all colours, and whether for borders, rockeries, bedding or patio containers, they are real winners.
Sowing Advice
For best results, sow immediately onto a good soil-based compost. Cover the seeds with fine grit or compost to approximately their own depth. They can be sown at any time, and germination can sometimes be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. We sow most seeds in an unheated greenhouse and wait for natural germination, as many seeds have built-in dormancy mechanisms, often waiting for natural spring germination, hence giving them a full season of growth.
