FRAGARIA VESCA ALPINA
The true alpine strawberry (Fragaria vesca/Fragaria alpina) produces masses of small but very sweetly-flavoured fruits from early summer until late autumn. It is perpetual fruiting and gives a constant supply of fruits unlike the larger cultivated forms. It may self-seed into places where it is happy and ensures fruit all summer long.
Seeds can be sown at any time of the year into a sandy compost and covered thinly with sand or grit. No artificial heat is needed. The seed tray is best left in a cool spot and kept moist. Seeds can be slow to germinate so please be very patient. Pot on plants when large enough to handle.
