Tomato St Pierre
In stock
Description
This old traditional French tomato variety produces hardy, indeterminate, regular-leaf tomato plants that bear moderate to high yields of medium-sized, 3-inch, red, round, tomatoes with soft, thick, meaty flesh with an excellent flavour. Although this looks superficially like a supermarket tomato, it has a truly great flavour, producing well in cooler growing regions right up to the frost. It was given a glowing report in BBC Gardeners' World Magazine in March 2008 by Pippa Greenwood. (CORDON)
Sowing Advice
Cover seeds only slightly. Do not allow the soil to dry out. Containers are held in warm conditions until sprouts appear, which may take 3-10 days. Move sprouting plantings immediately to bright light conditions, eg a window. Inadequate light is a frequent cause of failure of young seedlings. Around time of last frost, set seedlings into pots. Remove side-shoots and support the plant.
