Eremurus Robustus

Description
This is probably the largest of the foxtail lilies, growing to a staggering 3m tall. It produces very tall spires of pale pink flowers with yellow stamens atop leafless stems which tower above all else in the early summer border. The individual florets open from the base and continue upward, the effect being particularly dramatic when lit from behind.
Sowing Advice
Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination. Plants do best in a hot border where the tubers can bake in the summer.
