Echinops Ritro Veitch's Blue
In stock
Description
Spiky leaves along with bristly metallic blue flowers, make this plant a great architectural plant for the back of the summer border. Spiny, cobwebbed leaves provide interest from spring until the blooms appear in late summer, these striking plants associating well with other tall, late summer plants such as cardoon or echinacea, or even tall miscanthus grasses. It has been given an Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
Sowing Advice
Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination.
