TOMATO BRAD'S BLACK HEART
Compact plants with unusually wispy foliage, produce medium to large purple-black heart shaped fruit. It is quite early for a large fruited tomato, ripening usually at the end of July with a very good flavour. This is the first known black heart-shaped tomato, found originally by Brad Gates in the USA (Wild Boar Farms) in a patch of several thousand Black Krim plants. (Cordon)
Cover seeds only slightly. Do not allow the soil to dry out. Containers are held in warm conditions until sprouts appear, which may take 3-10 days. Move sprouting plantings immediately to bright light conditions, eg a window. Inadequate light is a frequent cause of failure of young seedlings. Around time of last frost, set seedlings into pots. Remove side-shoots and support the plant.
