Nasturtium Officinale

Watercress is a fast-growing aquatic perennial with trailing, hollow stems that root wherever they touch wet soil. Rounded dark green leaflets have a crisp texture and peppery flavour, while small white flowers rise above the colony from late spring. Native to Britain and much of Eurasia, Nasturtium officinale has been cultivated as a salad crop for centuries and is rich in flavour even in cool weather. It is equally useful in a clean-water container, bog garden or pond margin, but plants intended for eating must never be grown in contaminated water.
