Hypericum Prolificum
In stock
Description
One of the very best members of this large family of plants. A most desirable and unusual variant, it makes a relatively compact, rounded, woody shrub, bearing a very long season of attractive bright yellow flowers which display a prominent bouquet of bright yellow stamens right into Autumn. Extremely striking, and guaranteed to baffle all but your most knowledgeable friends! Thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils, Hypericum prolificum is drought-tolerant once established and ideal for xeriscaping, borders, or naturalized areas. Its dense, bushy habit makes it a great choice for erosion control, wildlife gardens, or as a low-maintenance hedge. This plant is also deer-resistant, adding resilience to its list of attributes.
Sowing Advice
Seeds have already been thoroughly cleaned and cold-stored for several months. Sow into well-drained, sandy compost at any time of year, cover to their own depth with sand or grit. No artificial heat is needed; seed tray is best left in a cool protected spot and kept moist. Seeds usually germinate in spring, regardless of when sown.
