Verbascum Pyramidatum
In stock
Description
Verbascum pyramidatum, commonly known as Pyramid Mullein, is a tall, striking perennial characterized by its densely packed spikes of pale yellow, saucer-shaped flowers with purple stamens. The flowers rise from a rosette of large, silvery-green basal leaves, creating a dramatic architectural feature in the garden. Native to southeastern Europe, this plant is well-suited for xeriscaping, rock gardens, or cottage garden borders. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soils, Verbascum pyramidatum is drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, making it an excellent choice for dry, sunny areas. It attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, while its deer-resistant nature ensures its blooms remain intact. The tall flower spikes make a stunning focal point or background plant in mixed borders.
Sowing Advice
Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination.
