‘Azurea’ is a richly coloured form of common camas, producing elegant spikes of clear azure-blue, six-petalled stars above narrow green leaves. It is smaller and more delicate than great camas, making it particularly effective naturalised through moist lawns, meadow edges and beneath open deciduous trees. Camassia quamash is native to western North American prairies that are wet in spring and drier in summer. Its bulbs were a major traditional food for many Indigenous communities, giving the species considerable cultural importance as well as ornamental value. Established clumps return reliably and gradually increase.
