Camassia Seeds

The Camassia genus, commonly known as Camas or Quamash, is a graceful member of the Asparagaceae family. These bulbous perennials are prized for their tall spikes of star-shaped flowers, which bloom in shades of blue, purple, or white in late spring to early summer. Camassia adds elegance and vertical interest to meadows, borders, and naturalised plantings. Native to North America, Camassia thrives in moist, well-drained soils and sunny to partially shaded locations. These hardy plants are especially suited to damp, meadow-like settings or alongside streams and ponds. Species such as Camassia quamash and Camassia leichtlinii are particularly popular for their ornamental appeal and historical significance as a food source for Indigenous peoples. The Camassia genus offers a stunning combination of beauty and adaptability, making it an excellent choice for gardeners looking to create naturalistic landscapes or add a touch of seasonal elegance.
