Fuchsia Bacillaris
In stock
Description
This rare and delightful diminutive shrub has very many small, coral-red flowers with frilly reflexed petals, which open for almost every month of the year, and tiny delicate leaves, the stems being deep red on the young growth. Bunches of small, shiny, black, spherical berries are later produced. Originating as a natural hybrid from Mexico, it is evergreen in all but the hardest winters, when it is often cut back to the ground but always regenerates in the spring. Very few fertile seeds are ever produced.
Sowing Advice
Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination.
