Carrot Eskimo is well named as it has excellent frost tolerance and is one of the tastiest vegetables to pick fresh from your garden in the depths of winter. You will able to harvest from November through to January, affording a nice grow your own treat for dull, winter days. A tasty stump-rooted nantes type with good tolerance to cavity spot and sclerotinia.
Sowing Advice
Direct sow into well prepared, light well-drained soil that is stone free. Carrots do not like manured soils so beds are best prepared during the previous autumn. Rake in a general purpose fertilizer 1-2 weeks before sowing. Sow very thinly 10mm deep in drills 30cm apart. Water until germination occurs. Germination takes 10-20 days. When large enough to handle thin to 10cm spacing.
