Geranium Albanum
In stock
Description
Large numbers of sizeable, magenta-veined, shocking pink flowers on a flowing cushion of spreading stems are produced over a far longer season than almost all other geraniums. It is a rare, valuable and completely different plant from others as it produces seeds which resemble tiny pasties with jagged ends. Unlike other geraniums that expel seed explosively to distribute them, this one alone relies on the tiny hooks catching onto the fur of passing animals! "A long flowering, underrated plant" ('Hardy Geraniums' - Bath & Jones).
Sowing Advice
Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination.
