Pumpkin Baby Boo
An unusual miniature pumpkin, producing many white fruits per plant, each one the average size of a tennis ball. A favourite 'mini variety' amongst children for Halloween, it is also widely used as a wedding table and Christmas decoration. It does have culinary uses though, with sweet white flesh, and is ideal stuffed and baked as individual fruits. Requires a sunny, sheltered position and its more compact nature, makes it idea for growing up walls and trellis with some support or left to sprawl on a vegetable patch.
For an early start (Mid / Late Apr) place a single seed edgeways 1/2inch deep in seed compost in a 3inch pot. The critical part is temperature, these need at least 65F continuous soil temperature until germinated, so a well heated greenhouse, propagator or airing cupboard is ideal.
