Description
Smaller than green Brussel sprouts, these neat, red vegetables have a sweet mild taste. Very hardy, the taste improves and the colour deepens the colder the weather. Both the sprouts and the leaves are sweet enough to be used raw in salads, but also taste lovely steamed or braised. Ready to harvest from November to January.
Sowing Advice
Sow in pots in mid spring to late summer. Germination takes about 3-10 days. Plant out the seedlings when they are about 6 inches in height. To survive the winter they need planting out 3 months before the first frost. Plant the seedlings about 15 inches apart and if planting in rows, space them 2 to 3 feet apart
