Description

A traditional variety of open pollinated Savoy cabbage, Ormskirk has a medium-sized, compact head surrounded by the typical crinkled leaves and a fine, almost nutty flavour. The plants are quite hardy and can be harvested from Christmas onwards when many other vegetables are scarce.

Sowing Advice

Sow the seed thinly in April and May in a well prepared seed bed in shallow drills 1" deep. Keep well watered. Thin the seedlings as they appear to 3" apart. Transplant the seedlings when they are about 6" tall to the growing site 12" apart. Set the young plants 1" deeper than they were in the seed bed. Harvest from December onwards.
