Pleione Orchid Mixed
One of the most beautiful, frost-hardy terrestrial orchids in the world. Very large pink and mauve flowers arise from plump pseudobulbs in earliest spring, lanceolate leaves later. Seeds are a challenge to germinate, sow on wet sphagnum and be very patient.
Sow dust-like seeds onto wet sphagnum moss and keep in a cool permanently moist spot, for example a north facing bedroom window sill. A closed propagator with NO HEAT is fine. Within 6-12 months tiny bulbils should appear. Allow to grow in the moss until grape-sized before growing on and flowering in a 3 inch pot full of damp moss.
