Description
Gaura lindheimeri, commonly known as butterfly bush or wandflower, is a perennial flowering plant native to North America. The plant is valued for its graceful, arching stems and delicate, butterfly-like flowers. Gaura lindheimeri is available in various cultivars, and a mix may refer to a combination of different cultivars or varieties. The individual flowers have four petals and come in various colours, including shades of pink, white, and bi-color combinations. The flowers are usually arranged on long, slender spikes, during its long blooming period, often starting in late spring or early summer and continuing into fall. The flowers are attractive to pollinators, including butterflies and bees. Gaura lindheimeri thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It is relatively drought-tolerant once established and is suitable for xeriscaping. Our mix of Gaura lindheimeri includes different cultivars and varieties that vary in flower colour, height, and other characteristics. If you're considering our Gaura lindheimeri mix, it will provide a diverse and visually appealing display in your garden, with variations in flower colours adding interest and attracting pollinators!
Sowing Advice
Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination.
