Bright lemon-yellow 'pea' flowers open from blue-green calyces From March until May, which is early for a herbaceous perennial. These are carried on stout, almost black, slightly hairy, springy stems which are clothed in trifoliate leaves, sprouting from a single crown. This lovely lupin-like plant is found in the wild from Alaska and Siberia so is totally hardy. Easy and utterly non invasive, it is perfect for a well drained soil in full sun.
